Description
Vida del Pueblo
by: Richard Siegel
Living in town represents a work depicting life in cities. People living one on top of the other. This sculture is actually inspired by a tiled painting I did called City Life
The sculpture was created blind folded and then sculpted. Then it is slow dried in the natural air making sure it dries evenly so it does not crack apart. One dried it is put in the oven at 900 degrees c for its first cooking and hardening. Once it has cooked for 24 hours it comes out to cool. It then takes me several weeks to apply two base coats, each requires 24 hours to dry. Then I can start to apply the various engobe colors. Each one taking 24 hours to dry. Once the colors are laid the details can be applied with the same waiting times for drying. It then passes through the oven again. Once it comes out of the oven and cools for 24 hours I can apply the clear enamel and let that dry for a day. I can then put it in the oven again. It took more than 4 months to complete.
